It is one of my fave palettes because it is compact for travel & perfect for both eyes and brows.  I l ❤ that the palette is mostly matte.  It also has one satin shade, called Venus, that is great for inner eye and brow highlights.  The shades, Naked 2 & Faint are perfect shades for mixing a custom brow shade.  This also means it is one last eye product to bring in your travel bag! Hope my giveaway winner loves it as much as I do (contest details located at end of this post).  Also in this video I show you my $1 makeup brush cleaning taco thing-a-ma-jiggy GAMECHANGER!!!

Silicon Makeup Cleaning Brush Pad | $1 Gamechanger from the cooking section of your local Dollar Tree or $.99 Store!

This turquoise honey-combed silicon pad works on cleaning both dry and wet brushes!  And drum roll please….it looks like a Tiffany’s brush cleaner for ONLY $1 from your local Dollar Tree or $.99 Store!  They come in an array of colors.  Some makeup cleaning pads can cost up to $30!!!  I found mine in the cooking section at the Dollar Tree.  Yep, it’s a silicon kitchen pot holder that I use for cleaning my makeup brushes.  I use it 7 days a week for cleaning powder shadows from my dry brushes between each shadow change.  This makes getting ready fast and convenient, and especially on days when my spare blending brushes are dirty.

IMG_4508.jpg
I use the Tiffany’s makeup brush cleaning taco 7 days a week for cleaning my dry brushes between each eyeshadow change. So time saving!

I also like to give my brushes a thorough cleansing once a week.  This makeup brush cleaning thingamajiggy really gets every speck of makeup off of my brush bristles, thanks to those honey-comb shaped grooves.  And especially when I use makeup cleansing oils, like my favorite one from Nars, to wash the bristles.

IMG_4514.jpg
Cleaning your makeup brushes with a makeup cleansing oil helps to moisturize your bristles, and preserve their longevity.

Over time, soaps can just dry the bristles out, and this doesn’t feel so great on your skin.  When you wash your brushes with an oil, it is important to get every speck of old makeup off and also every speck of the oil off of your bristles. IMG_7817.jpg Any oil residue will weigh your bristles down, and won’t let them perform properly.  But when the oil is completely rinsed off properly, your bristles will be clean, germ-free, and moisturized.  Oil helps preserve the longevity of your brushes.     IMG_4518.jpg

That all said, you can clean your makeup brushes with it wet or dry, and also use it for its primary reason: to remove hot, baking dishes from the oven.  lol. Or use it to rest your brush holders or hot coffees on while you get ready.  It is flat like a thin pancake (or crêpe? lol) and looks so SLEEK on the vanity.

IMG_7831 2.jpg
My Lorac brushes are my favorite brushes for quick smokey eyes.

Also, you can roll your brushes up in this turquoise Tiffany’s looking taco for convenient travel purposes.  It rolls up and folds over compactly.  Simply secure with a hair tie or rubber band. #life #hacks

I just absolutely adore how bright and fresh it looks.  When used as a cup holder, it literally saves me from spilling coffee on my brushes lol.

IMG_7801.jpg
This $1 pot holder/makeup brush cleaning pad is also a great hot coffee cup holder in the mornings when I am getting ready!

Since the running color theme of this thingamajiggy is turquoise, IMG_7817.jpgI had to wear my new Muskoka Nord Aquamarine Teepee necklace in the video.  I love wearing it in support of our Native Americans.  They need all of our help right now.  NO DAPL!!!  IMG_9867.jpgLooking forward to layering my Teepee necklace with my Muskoka Nord orange agate fish. I store them in my diy jewelry organizer. The fish is also Native American-art deco inspired.  NO DAPL.

OMG.  Let’s just pretend that didn’t happen in my first video with my new background. LOL.  If you are into candles, Stephen’s Candles (below) are heaven!!  The best & yummiest candles I’ve ever used!

Kelley Nicole Collection Design Mode: Sea, Sun, Spring Bohemian

Nothing beats the winter blues than a dose of color.  Anyone else eager for Spring?  Just two more months until then, so I thought I would get a start on some Spring designing.  Last weekend I made another jewelry organizer, this time with some bright color, sequins, & print. That silk dress I recycled to make this organizer won’t be seeing the light of day ever again lol.  Thus far I have made three jewelry storage houses with recycled materials.  Of the three, the Moroccan one is my favorite.  To see more about them, be sure to check out this week’s video.

I also made some new semi-precious stone stackable rings.  These are just a few from this weekends two-day designing bender.  IMG_4636.jpg

This jade piece looks great alone or paired with stackables.  The jade stone tells a story from a trip I took out of the country last year.  Reminds me of the sea.

Too Faced Peanut Butter & Jelly Palette First Impressions!

I’ll start by saying that I have a strong adoration for Too Faced eyeshadows.  The Chocolate Bar palettes are definitely worth the cult following & have been in my makeup arsenal for yearsssss.  One of the best makeup lines eva!!  So I went into this review with high hopes, and the delectable PB & J palette certainly did not disappoint!!  The colors are perfect for any season!  When swatched, the creamy shades blended impressively.  Buttery beauties fo sho!!

Ummmm the packaging, can we eat it, too?  I did end up giving the shadows a taste in my review video.  Not only could I not help myself, but I was also too lazy to get up and go wash off the swatches during filming. That said, they pack a light, candy sweet taste. lol

IMG_4755.jpg
Too Faced Peanut Butter & Jelly Palette First Impressions | Kelley Whilden

The versatility you get with this palette is amaze.  It comes with matte and satin shades, and perfect transition shades.  The array of colors are suitable for both natural day looks & smokey night looks.  If you really feel like living a little, the “Jelly” shade is gorgeous for some inner eye pop.  However, Jelly was the only one I had trouble with because of the overspray in my initial swatch.  But after working the overspray off, it swatches & builds beautifully into bright, gorgeous color.

IMG_4733.jpg
Too Faced’s PB & J palette comes with flattering matte & satin shades for both natural day & smokey night looks. ❤

I can’t wait to wear Jammin’ for a smokey eye.  It is an interesting purple-dark brown-taupe shade. “Peanut Brittle” is a gorgeous bronze satin sure to bring out your inner goddess.  “Nuts About U” & “Peanut Butter” are rich, pigmented mattes.  When worn in the crease, terra-cotta shades like these always help to bring out the color in my eyes, so they will be getting lots of love.  I give this palette two big thumbs up!!!  How awesome would it be if Too Faced came out with an Almond Butter palette?!!! I die just dreaming of it!  Also in my review video I mentioned being in designing mode a lot lately, & included some of my latest jewelry, jewelry organization, & fashion designs.  Hope you enjoy! ❤ ❤ ~Kelle

Weekend Designing | Jewelry Organizers

Happy Monday, everyone!  I hope everyone had a rockin weekend!  I spent mine designing some jewelry organizers.  I like this pocketed, sectional style because it allows you to see what you have, grab, & then go!  img_4190 My organizers were created with recycled materials.  I wanted a bohemian vibe for the first style, so I chose a silk dress with a broken zipper (figured I would never wear the dress again so might as well turn it into something I would use).  Then I went to work turning it into an boho chic silk jewelry organizer!screen-shot-2017-01-09-at-7-54-35-pm

screen-shot-2017-01-09-at-7-55-13-pm

For the next style I wanted a Moroccan vibe, so I cut up an embroidered top that just collected dust in my closet. It even had the tags.  It hurt to cut it up, but I am working on a minimalism mantra for 2017.

Version 2

I absolutely  love how they turned out!  My Muskoka Nord & Pink Pewter jewelry have their own sections now.  I recently featured a Pink Pewter headband in a recent blog.  For more on the Kelley Fish agate necklace click here.  Inside the white matchbox are my White Hat Howlite earrings.  They can be worn for special occasions or even casual with pretty top or tank.

Prior to making these organizers, I was using a glass dish for bits and bobs, and pretty soon everything started getting all tangled up & difficult to find.  It feels sooooo good to get them organized. This was a fun project to go along with my minimalism mantra for 2017.

IMG_4052.jpgIMG_4073.jpg

I really wanted organizers that had some flare.  So I gave them some texture with the bohemian silk & Moroccan embroidery for their own sense of style.  IMG_4084.jpg

Hope you guys like them!  Have a beautiful week, my loves!!! ❤ ❤ ❤ ~KelleScreen Shot 2017-01-09 at 7.54.35 PM.png

Sweater Weather OOTW!

The past week in L.A. has been chilly willy!!  I’ve bundled up almost every day this week!  My oversized Theory sweater has been getting a lot of love over the past week and fall months! It’s one of those you-swim-in-it-like-a-fish type sweaters that I find to be the most comfortable to wear.

This outfit would not have been complete without my Paul Green ankle boots.  They have just enough chunky heel to make you feel lifted and are soooo comfortable.

Charriol bangles & Stella & Dot tennis bracelet
I kept the jewelry look minimal with my Charriol bangles & Stella & Dot tennis bracelet that pretty much stay on my wrist 24-7.  Also, Pink Pewter’s headband hair jewelry is super chic.  They make an array of hair and other jewelry to choose from.

I’ve also been wearing my Guess skinny jeans a lot lately.  They get a lot of love for sure.

Tabletop Tuesday & Fall Leaves Fashion Fever!

Maybe it’s the heat that has me purposefully trying to manifest Fall in L.A.!  I just love seeing all of the leaves falling, however, it is nearly October and funny to see them falling when it’s 90 degrees out!  Ha!  Today my neighbor gave me a really beautiful cast iron mosaic table.  How incredibly sweet!!!!!It had some of the mosaic pieces missing, so I decided to renovate it by filling in the missing mosaics with pearls.  I really love the fern leaf embedded on the tabletop.  When the sun hits table in just the right place, little rainbows appear in the white tiles.  The pearls also flicker when the sun hits them! So beautiful!  I’ll be headed to some antique stores this week for chairs to go with it.  Today I also de-potted my tree and re-potted it into a minimal white ceramic pot, and added white crystals (near base of the tree) to go with the renovated table.  ❤ this pairing!  Speaking of Fall leaves, I thought I would also include photos of my latest leaf & om symbol necklace design. It will look great with a tee, jeans, & boots!  Hope everyone is having a fabulous week!! XO ~Kelle

Frisco Finds & Styling Tips!

On my recent NorCal work trip, I ventured Union Square & Market Street during down time.  I needed a new pair of professional black flats & went with pointy-toed croc print loafers.  My next Frisco finds were a few scarves.  Meanwhile, LA is in a hundred degree heat wave. Ha!  The white one looked so cheeky next to my Sonya Dakar makeup bag. The no makeup-makeup look with bright lip is one I’ve been wearing a lot. So I also picked up a set of creme cheek blushes that I’ll cover in future blog 🙂  I’m a big fan of designer, Anita Singh, and could not be without her chunky hoop earrings.  They have a vintage quality.  Also found a few gold chokers, geometric statement piece, a cool ring, light-catching pink drop earrings, bangles, & popsicle orange belt.

Couldn’t resist the 2-for-1 pre-Labor Day sales!  I’ve been dying for a two-toned choker, & finally got my hands on one. No pun intended 😉 The other gold choker is curved & drapes around the natural curves of your neck for an elegant, yet VERY subtle, Cleopatra look 😉  When I style shop I look for pieces that can be worn a number of ways. Depending on what the day brings, I style in three’s! I generally go with 3 of the following for each outfit:  1) a choker (or earrings/scarf/handbag/accessory etc), 2) belt, and 3) shoes. I think style for: a) top b) middle c) bottom.  One could have on a plain t-shirt/jeans and the outfit be turned up a few notches simply by adding those three bits and bobbles 🙂 Have a great weekend, everyone! XO ~Kelle
